What day is today?

I woke up this morning not knowing what day it is. Is it Thursday or Friday? Not sure where the week went, how can it already be Friday? Well it is, and for many, thankfully it is Friday and almost the weekend. Some say today is Hug Your Cat Day. The date to celebrate is disputed, but for us cat lovers we know that every day is hug your cat day. I'm trying to find something special I can do for my kitties. Maybe I'll give them a can of tuna to share, they love that.

I'm looking forward to this weekend because my Brother is finally "home". He was transferred from the hell hole Rehabilitation Center he was sent to to his home facility where he lives during the week. It was really a mess yesterday trying to get him out of there, but it did happen finally and he was transferred late afternoon. He seemed so relieved. Poor guy has really been thru it. He's lost about 20 lbs. too. But that is OK, because he needs to lose like my whole family.

I'm on my way to go see him in a bit and hopefully I'll find his remote for his TV. Tomorrow he is coming home (our house) for the weekend and he is so funny because the one thing he wants to do or have us do is make this fried chicken recipe he saw on Martha Stewart. He saw it while in the hospital and I saw it too and he's been talking about this chicken. So I found the recipe and I'd like to try it too. You dredge the chicken in egg whites and then in matzo meal and then you make a special spice that you sprinkle after it's fried. I'll have a small bit of it, to try it, but I'm really trying to eat differently to be nice to my gall bladder and ward off another attack. So far so good with my new way of eating. It's kind of odd but since the attack last Sunday I've not had much of an appetite. Yesterday and the day before I was not hungry all day. I had coffee in the morning but never was hungry for breakfast or lunch. I made myself eat something small in the evening. Same for last night, no food all day and then after getting Gary home Mamacita and I went out and had a Cobb salad. I've also been drinking a flax seed tea and I wonder if somehow that is curbing my hunger. Whatever it is, I'm thankful because I'd much rather not be consumed by hunger or feelings of hunger.

I'd also like to take him to the Farmer's Market tomorrow if it isn't too much for him. He loves the dried apple chips and he might enjoy seeing all the bounty of food and flowers.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Screamin Norwegian and Fans

So we made it into the paper! The MN local paper even! Sunday we met at our normal place to watch the Vikings/Ram game and we had a special guest, the Screamin Norwegian! It was a really cool car, I think it was a Chevy Camaro, but I obviously don't know much about cars. But I do know one thing, it's LOUD!! It scared the begezus out of me.

We were celebrating Gary, my brother's birthday last Sunday so it was really fun for him. We had balloons that he was giving away to the kids and we had birthday cake for all. The kids would come up to Gary and say "Go Vikes!" which was their way of saying, I want a balloon. And Gary was very lucky that day b/c he won the halftime pool and then he invested some in raffle tickets and he won that too! He won a Viking coin, a hat, a t-shirt, a penant, a poster, a signed page and other cool stuff. He was really happy and it was a good day.

Mamacita wasn't able to celebrate on Sunday with us b/c of her infection but she is back to work now and doing very well.

Thursday Thirteen #31

Thirteen things about my Brother Gary! In honor of his birthday today.

  1. He's my baby brother.
  2. He has quite a memory, like an elephant I always tell him. He used to and still can memorize when TV shows that are on and what channel. It's quite amazing. And he'll remember things and stories from when we were younger that no one else remembers.
  3. He cannot say the word World. It comes out like Weeerld. It's really cute and he hates when I ask him to say it.
  4. He is afraid of most animals and even hated stuffed animal toys as a child.
  5. We use to call him the Sausage Snatcher because he had a surgery years ago and was on a gurney in the house and the story goes that an Uncle was visiting and Gary was on his gurney near him and when he looked away, Gary took his sausage!
  6. He is the official Supervisor, when he would watch Dad or Uncles working on a project, he knew what they were doing and would supervise their work.
  7. He doesn't like to smile with teeth for a picture, but he will if you tickle him.
  8. He never had a cavity until about the age of 30 or needed braces.
  9. He insists on wearing steel toed shoes. Even during the summer. He broke some toes years back and I guess this is why.
  10. He loves to visit and socialize.
  11. He's a meat and potatoes guy.
  12. He has a hat collection, hundreds of hats.
  13. He loves Harley Davidson, Orange County Choppers, car shows, etc. He would have been a car buff if he could walk and drive.

Happy Birthday Gary Bear!
