Happy New Years Eve!

I'm not feeling great about much of anything right now. It's been a rough couple of days. And i DID get a cough from that little heathen at the movies the other night. I started coughing yesterday afternoon, this really annoying dry cough and my throat hurts. Took some of my mom's old cough medicine with codeine in it and i was able to sleep last night. But still have it today. So I had plans today to go to my friends house and she was going to make a prime rib and we were going to enjoy her hot tub and a bottle of champagne once the kids were to sleep but now i'm not sure i should go. It's raining....and I don't want to get her girls sick...and a part of me wants to go to bed right now and just hibernate. Not sure what i'll do, but it looks like i'm staying home.

I'm not speaking to the beau, he's tried calling and im'ing me, but i'm not talking to him. My gut is still telling me to move on, which i'm going to do. But right now i'm feeling a tad sorry for myself i guess. Will i ever find a decent man to share life with? Are there any out there? I mean really, what are the chances of finding someone who is nice and decent and over 40 years old without a lot of baggage and someone who wants a normal life, who still has ambition and wants to start a life with someone. Slim.....very slim i think.

I have pictures to take and lots to show you but i can't right now. But i started a lace scarf from Knit Picks called Dainty Bess. It's the reddish brown one on the left. And i just figured out that i started the scarf in the yarn for the shawl...what an idiot. So i have to frog about 6 inches i completed so far and then i have to restart in the alpaca yarn that it calls for. I'm enjoying lace knitting though. It keeps my mind busy.

Got this idea from here about doing a Gimme 3. Perhaps you'd like to do one too? Not sure i want to make resolutions this year. Too much possibility of failure, but I can handle answering this Gimme 3.

*If money were no object this past Christmas, what are 3 gifts you would have bought, and for whom?

  1. A beach house for my family and I to go to on the weekends within 1 hour away. Just somewhere for my mom to get away and relax and not worry about having to cook or clean or anything like that.
  2. A new house for my friend who has twins. A house with enough room for all of them so she wouldn't be so stressed.
  3. A car for someone who was in need, someone with children who couldn't afford a car right now.

*If you could have done 3 things differently this year, what would they have been?

  1. I would not have dated Eric.
  2. I would not have met Junior.
  3. I would have moved back to CA sooner.

*What 3 things do you hope happen in 2006?

  1. I hope to meet a decent and caring man to share life with.
  2. I hope to find a job that i am happy with.
  3. I hope to find a way to start our knit cafe.

I want to wish all of you a happy and prosperous 2006! I know that the new year has nothing but good things in store for all of us. Even the bad things in our life are meant to be, but there's also good things to look forward to. Celebrate, but be safe! Hugs to you all!

Merry Christmas!!

Christmas at our house was really nice! Santa was really generous, i'll list some stuff and show pics tomorrow, but today has been a really bad day, having to do with the beau who i'm not sure i'm going to see anymore as of today.....i have very hurt feelings, anger, bewilderment and i just want to cry, but my body won't let me. I'm tired of crying over a man. I'm a sensitive person and there's nothing wrong with crying, i know, but my anger won't let me. Plus i'm working on my 2nd glass of wine after getting home and i've had a Soma for my back and so i'm going to go to bed early and not think about it for now. I spent a lovely day with my best friend and her girls. We went to lunch at CA Pizza Kitchen (I love their Bacon Gorgonzola chopped salad), and we went shopping at the mall, we did a bunch of stuff there, i spent zero money and then we came home and her dear hubby was home (whom i've known since i was 18) so Julie had me run by my situation with him and he had some sage advice. Then her 8 year old daughter, Julie and I went to see Narnia. Loved it! I read the book about 8 years ago and i LOVE children's literature and also love C.S. Lewis, but the movie was beautiful and interesting. A tad scary for some kids though. I had the pleasure of sitting next to a probably 5 or 6 year old who spoke nothing but spanish and coughed and hacked during the whole movie and then tapped the arm rest between us at really annoying times...

I have an interview next week that sounds very promising...keep fingers crossed...or say a prayer.

K, time to go to bed and wallow...

It's almost here!

One of my best girlfriends was here last weekend for an early Christmas present for her kids. She brought hubby and 3 of 5 kids out to go to Disneyland. I haven't seen her in about 3 years. This is her on the left. She's sickening! She's had 5 kids and she's like a size 3 and has this gorgeous shape. So not fair!
She looks so young to me. Actually, she just doesn't age much and has turned into a beautiful woman. My parents really enjoyed seeing them, I did too! Here's her and the whole family (well missing the 2 older kids who are back in AZ).

I was busy knitting a pair of special sized socks for my Aunt on Thursday morning. They are special because they have a slightly bigger cuff and not so much elasticity and she has rather large feet so they are slightly bigger. I sure hope they fit and she likes them. They aren't able to come out for Christmas Eve so we were exchanging gifts when my uncle stopped by Thursday afternoon. I got them done. See...

Junior and I had a good day yesterday. We went to the cemetery and put flowers on his Mother's and my Grandmother's grave. We also visited his brother's grave. He wasn't sure he could go to his mothers grave yet. She's been gone since July but he did it and felt good that he did. Then we went to go visit my brother and then we went to the mall and had some dinner and I did some last minute shopping at Nordstrom for my dad for my mom and I got a Cook's Magazine for mom so I can get her a subscription. She doesn't like a lot of mags (unlike moi....) but loves that one so I'll get it for her.

My back has been really bad today. I had to take pain meds and a nap because of it.

I baked some holiday cookies today. After icing my back and before the nap. Can't believe it's already here.

I want to wish all of you who celebrate this Holiday Season a wonderful holiday and wish you a prosperous and healthy 2006!

my nose is stuffed up...

I'm a bad blogger but i've been very sick with a cold the last 3-4 days. I took a nap one evening and woke up with a sore throat and it just hit me from there. I spent all day Wednesday in my jammies, taking liquid cold stuff and sleeping, laying on the couch. I had an interview Thursday that i wanted to feel ok for, and i did, i made the interview and I was ok, but then i thought i was fine to spend the day with Junior, go have lunch, go see Christmas lights at night and i overdid and so today i feel like crap again.

I got a lovely package from my SP6 Missy! She's just the best pal ever and this was her first one to be involved in. She shamed me because i haven't even gotten my last package to my poor pal. But I promise that pics and a proper thank you are coming soon.

I just placed a rather large knit picks order for myself for Christmas at my mom's direction! Oooohhh, i can't wait! Lot's of stash and fun stuff coming. I have a lace wrap and a shawl project coming from that!

Today i made peppermint marshmallows. See...

They are a really pretty pink color from using crushed peppermint candycanes in them and i was surprised but they are like a real marshmallow, they have a really nice texture and they were kind of fun to make. I was going to make some hot cocoa mix and then package them together as gifts. Does anyone have any cool packaging ideas? Do you think it's a lame gift? I like homemade things, but you know, sometimes people are like, oh whatever. If anyone is interested i got the recipe from the December 2005 issue of Family Circle. There is also a recipe for plain marshmallows on the Cooking for Engineers blog.

Junior is on his way over to visit tonight. I told him that was fine but i look like crap, he said he was coming to visit, not lovey dovey. Guess we're at that point where i'll allow him to see me with almost no makeup and that sick in the eyes look. Sweet of him to want to see me all gross and snotty. LOL

Self Portrait Tuesday

The theme for Self Portrait Tuesday's this month is Reflective Surfaces, i like this one. I think i can get with it again. If fact i think it was 3 weeks that i didn't post a SPT and they took me off the list. I don't blame them, but i'm going to ask to be included again.

Junior came over today and helped me put icicle Christmas lights on the outside of the house and he also helped me screw a cabinet door on, things that my dad has a hard time doing. He stayed for awhile tonight. We looked at some of my old photographs, it was fun. He even saw my old wedding photos, he told me i was a beautiful bride. I've invited him for Christmas Eve, we'll see. He has a hard time with the holidays.

He is more of a pessimist and i'm more an optimist, so we go back and forth and tonight he called when he got home and was excited because he had a phone message from his daughter saying she missed him, she loved him and to call her. There are problems there, but he mentioned to me, you know how you are telling me to be positive, and he felt that trying to be more positive made her call. Well, duh!

I had my map added to the left hand side and did something wrong and lost it, so it's there now. I'm so excited that 3 of you have added yourself to the map! Hi Julie http://stoneview.typepad.com/ and Tori and Wendy http://catknits.typepad.com/catknits/! Julie has a great recipe for Divinity on her blog and Tori is busy making really cute fuzzy feet slippers (which i'm trying to make too but with Bulky and it's not going well without a pattern!), and Wendy is the one i got the idea to do Broadripple Socks, which is a cool pattern, but i like the yarn she used better.

I had a date with Junior last night and it was really nice. He took me to this great Mexican restaurant, we had a very nice dinner. Then we went to get a few groceries for him and i got some Hagen Daz Coffee ice cream for dessert. Then we went to his house for some cuddling and TV. We hit a bump in the road late last night, but i think we'll be OK. I forgot how much work it can be to be in a relationship.

It's rainy today so no yard sale, not sure we'll be able to have it tomorrow either. So we're decorating the house for Christmas. And I'm putting together an invitation for family online for our Christmas Eve Celebration. There's a cool site online where you can create an online invitation. Take a look if you are interested. Evite.

Please add yourself to my map!

I've added a frappr map to the blog and i'd love it if you are reading this to add yourself to my map! You can go here to add or there's a link on the left hand side to my map!

I've been at my friend's house the last two mornings to help her with her twins and to help around the house. She's a bit overwhelmed with an 8 year old and twins who just turned 3. I did a lot of cleaning and sorting and throwing out and putting stuff in my car for our yard sale this weekend for her on Tuesday and yesterday i went grocery shopping for her and also cooked. I made her and family a pot roast with roasted mushrooms, carrot, potato and she wanted me to make her sauteed chicken breast with cream sauce for lunch. She made a green salad. The chicken breasts are so easy. I just season with salt and pepper, a little garlic salt, put the pan on medium high, add some butter and Extra Virgin Olive Oil, when hot, add the chicken breasts and leave alone for 5 minutes, turn, another 5 minutes, then put in a preheated oven at 400 for 5 minutes. They come out tender and juicy and most of all, putting them in the oven cooks them in the middle perfectly. Then you take the pan drippings and add cream, scrape the bottom to get all the goodies and flavor and then let it bubble a little. Turn it off and it'll thicken a little. Low carb but not low calorie!

Went to church with Junior last night. It was nice to go with him. But the service was a bit long. Sunday's aren't so long. We have a big date tonight. He's taking me to dinner! He sent me an email yesterday saying happy 3 week anniversary. He mentioned it on our 2 week anniversary too. He's very thoughtful.

I have submitted my resume to a friend and to one place online. That's on the list for today too. It's suppose to be a rainy day! Yeah! I love the rain!

No knitting the last couple days, wow, i can't believe it. I hate it when i'm too busy to knit. Have to make a list of holiday gifts and have to get serious to see what i need to still make.

Oh, and i've been such a bad SP, so bad, that she contacted the moderators and i got an email saying she was worried about me. I sent my SP an email and begged forgiveness and she's really cool. I have to get her package together and mailed by next week too. Bad, bad SP...
