Not such a good weekend. I've been having headaches and neck pain since I hit my head last weekend. Mamacita suggested I go to urgent care which I never thought of. I just thought I'd have to make an appointment with my regular Dr. and get in when i could, but this was a much better option. And although it was a Sat. around noon, they were not so busy, I was called in really pretty soon, and I was out of there with 1.5 hours. The Dr. didn't think I needed a cat scan, he said he thought I sprained my neck muscles, so he prescribed an anti-inflammatory to take for the week and he said it should be better by then. I had some of that prescription at home so I did a little grocery shopping and headed home. It was pouring rain when I got out of the Dr's. I love the rain and we need it badly in So. CA. So I came home and knit and watched some TV. I also made dinner. I made chicken breasts with watermelon salsa. It's a WW recipe and Mamacita and brother seemed to like it.
I went to my first WW meeting Friday during work and I really liked the leader. A young guy, good looking, funny and caring. His meeting lasted about 30 minutes and they encourage you to bring your lunch and have it during the meeting. So this weekend I've been reading up on the plan and figuring out meals and writing down my food and I'm feeling good. I like the plan because it's real food and it's healthy and balanced and no food is off limits. I had 2 glasses of wine Sat. night, but i was within my points.
Friday night I finished the MS3 stole! I was a little nervous about blocking it because I've never done that before. But Sunday I was feeling OK, so I soaked it for half hour in a gallon of cold water with the soak stuff in it and then i carefully squeezed it to get what water I could out of it and then I got busy and blocked it. And it was so much fun! I loved how when you put the wires in and blocked it the pattern would pop. Look...

Tonight I'll try to take pics of it on. It should be completely dry by then. I really like it. And there is another lace stole KAL starting October 5. It's called Secret of the Stole and you are welcome to join by October 4. I've already joined and I already have the yarn and the beads! Yeah!
My daily goal today is to drink my 64 oz. of water and to write down all my food. Hope you have a happy Monday!

I received an order in the mail yesterday for some beauty items and while opening the package realized that I think they made a mistake and shipped me 2 of 1 item instead of the one I ordered. I was pretty sure it wasn't a 2 for 1 sale and the item was over $20. so I called the company and told them. It was a weird exchange. They asked what I wanted to do. I said I'd send it back but I didn't want to pay postage, they said it cost them more than the item to arrange a pick up. It was evident that they wanted me to pay for the 2nd misshipped item but why should I have to do that? She then said, kind of exasperated, just keep the item. I feel a little funny about this. I feel like it should be returned but then I feel that I tried to resolve it and why should I have to spend another $20. plus dollars because they messed up my order? Well, I gave the item to Mamacita and I'm going to try and not worry about it anymore.
I'm working on an entrelac scarf and think I'm going to give it to my female boss because the colors remind me of her. It'll be a Christmas gift. I got the yarn from a crafts store that I haven't been to in a long while and I must say I'm quite impressed with their selection of yarns and supplies. I believe the demand is evident and they are listening. There are some really nice yarn choices now and I love that. I'm using Patons SWS which is a new yarn to me, but a new favorite! And Creative Knitting mag has a pattern for a nice sweater in this very yarn. I really like this Cables and Lace Jacket although I think the striping would be hard to match up as shown in this pic. But they have solid colors and kind of heathered yarns and it would be pretty made up in that. But I need another project like I need a hole in the head! So I will control myself.
I'm having trouble getting to know my SP11 receiver. She doesn't post much and I'm just a little stuck. And it's difficult because I have the nicest SP11 pal who is already doing a good job of spoiling me! She's motivated me to keep trying with my pal.

I hope you all had a good long holiday weekend. We all roasted to death here in So. Cal. And unfortunately I mean that literally. I heard last night of an older couple who were found dead in their apartment, they had no a/c or fans and passed away. I've had a couple elderly clients come in today to make a payment and I've asked them if they have fans because I'm scared for them. Yesterday while in the car it was 110 degrees outside! Today it was only 93 at lunch. Isn't that amazing? 17 degrees cooler and it was still 93.
We went to the movies yesterday to get out of the heat for awhile and we saw Superbad. It was really funny, we all enjoyed it. It has a message, but it's subtle. I thought my brother was going to choke, he got to laughing so much. We needed the comic relief. And this theater let's wheelchairs in free so that is very cool!
Looky what I got in the mail! My wine from the Sunset Wine Club! I'll have to post a pic later but I'm so excited. I'm thinking of having a wine tasting dinner party to try the wines out. Or maybe Mamacita and I will just enjoy one, I don't know. But I love the club because they give you information about the individual wines, they also give you recipe cards to meals that will be complimentary to each wine. And with membership I get a discount if I want to buy more bottles and there is all kinds of information online and other recipes. I'm going to have fun with this!
I started the wing on MS3 and I'm so determined to get it done now, I can't wait to get it done and blocked! It's quite repetitive to knit the wing but sometimes I really like repetitive knitting. You kind of get into a rhythm.
I also finished the Prayer Shawl, so I have to take some pics and give to my neighbor. I think it looks nice, but then it's kind of hard to appreciate it because it just seems like it would be hot and hot is not what we want now.

Mamacita and I went to dinner yesterday night at a Japanese Restaurant not too far from our house. I think I've been looking at the place for 2 years now thinking, huh, we'll have to try that place. It's small and not fancy, but there are always cars there, it's not packed, but busy. So we had hot sake which Mamacita had never had and she liked it. I like sake too. She had tempura and teriyaki beef but she was concerned about it being too sweet so the waiter suggested she have the sauce on the side. It was the best teriyaki beef I've ever had, it was a real tender cut of beef, not cooked to death, and the sauce was not too sweet but really nice flavor. I had the tempura and vegetables and I too thought the quality and freshness was excellent. We've found a new place!
Today I was doing fine and about 10 a.m. a migraine hit me. I felt it coming on so I took Excedrin Migraine and i also put on Aveda Blue Oil. I put it on my temples and on the back of my neck. But it just kept getting worse, I got nauseous and the light started bothering me. And, I bled through (I know, TMI, but whatever) and I was so uncomfortable. So I went home at lunch. I ended up trying to just rest, but I fell asleep for awhile and although the migraine is gone, i feel like I have a hangover now. My boss told me she's started taking Midol w/Ibuprofen during her periods and it's helping so I'll give it a try next time.
My boss asked me if I'd make a baby ensemble with a blanket, sweater, hat and booties and how much.... Well, I don't know what to do. I don't think I can get it all done and I don't know what to charge her. So I'm thinking of making a baby blanket and see if she likes it. She wants it in September or the baby is due in December. And I want to get the prayer shawl done and then I really want to finish MS3 because I saw a finished one and it's unbelievably gorgeous! So much knitting and too little time.
I'm reading a really good book called 'such a pretty girl'
by Laura Weiss. It's kind of a tough read because you can get so angry at some of the characters, but it's a good read too.
I'll leave you with a picture of the beautiful pineapple upside down cake that Mamacita made for the lucky dogs she works with!
I was told it tasted as good as it looked. Isn't it pretty! ?
Have a great weekend!

Had a nice weekend, although it was miserably hot. And it's continued this week. Today we are expected to peak 100 and the humidity is high. I guess it's summer so it should be expected.
My bosses were out of town for the weekend and took Monday too so it was me and the temp worker. The day went fine. I can't believe how many people bought a car over the weekend. It goes in spurts. The next holiday weekend is a big car buying weekend too.
I've started working on my MS3 stole again and I'm really enjoying it. I'm in the repetitive part so it's good knitting but I keep forgetting to add some beads. No problem though because I will sew them on later. That's so much easier than ripping to add a stupid bead. It's a project that I have to kind of concentrate on so I leave it at home. I am using a highlighter for the graph and that is working. It's really beautiful so far. I've heard that it's called the Swan Lake Shawl, but I haven't seen a swan yet. There is a wing on it and I guess some were bothered by the design, but I'm just knitting away. I want to see how it was intended. Socks and lace knitting are my current faves.
I have my weight class tonight. Looking forward to it. It is a late night for me, it doesn't end until 9 p.m. but it's worth it for me. I've stopped going to the gym, it wasn't worth the aggravation. I'll find another way.
Have to go check my stocks. It dropped below my initial investment but I think it's teaching me patience. I'm just letting it sit and hopefully it'll go up again. Yesterday I had lost 9 cents overall. Have to go check if it's changed today...
Have a great Tuesday. Make it the best day for you!

I was so whipped last night I went to bed at 8:30! And I slept soundly. Heard Mamacita's alarm go off around 4:30 but fell back asleep. I feel wonderful today!! My back isn't hurting anymore and I'm well rested. What could go wrong.... oops, shouldn't say that.
If you like tea, there's a gift for you on the sidebar to the right. Enter your email and receive a $5 gift certificate. I've ordered from them many times and they have great products, the tea is fresh and different and the ingenuitea teapot thing is really cool.
Have my 2nd weight class tonight. Looking forward to it. I've had a good week, feeling good about myself and my food.
If you are from LA you'll understand how sad it is to have lost one of our local news people, Hal Fishman. He's been around as long as I can remember. What is sad to me is he was well respected, very knowledgeable, but we never hear about it until they are gone. He was still broadcasting like a week ago before he collapsed at home and they found out he had colon cancer. So sad. My prayers for his family.
Knitting, well, I have too many projects, have to sew up some pink baby booties, working on socks for Spaz, haven't picked up my MS3 in 2 weeks but must get going on it. I got blocking wires, yes, i broke down and bought them and now I have at least 2 projects I need to block. And I want to knit a rug I saw that you knit a tube and insert cord into it and now I can't remember where I saw it. Too many projects, too little time!

How apropos the above affirmation is for me today. I started my trial membership at the gym and it's embarrassing to tell you but I'm taking baby steps. I walked for 15 minutes and felt very accomplished. It's better than nothing and I have to do what I can until my body improves and I can do more. But I felt it after only doing that and this morning too. It's a good feeling though. I'll continue as long as this gym leaves me alone for awhile, they've been calling me on my cell, wanting me to come in to discuss memberships and/or give me a free personal training session, I've told them repeatedly that I haven't even begun yet and they need to give me time. So yesterday mid-day some poor girl had the unfortunate task of calling me for the same thing and this is how the conversation went...
Her..."Hi! This is So So from the gym and I'm calling to let you know you have a free session with a personal trainer! Would you like to make your appointment now?!"
Me..."(very audible)sigh....... K, I've been telling you people EVERY DAY since last week that I haven't even started yet and you have to give me some time. Geez, you have until the middle of August when my membership ends and I can tell you now that if this doesn't stop I WILL NOT want to know anything about a free session or a membership."
Her..."Oh, I'm so sorry, they should have written something down, I'll make a note of it and I'm sorry. Whatever you want to do is fine."
Me..."OK, thank you."
So we'll see if they call again.
It's really difficult to just get out there, there are so many people, and you see some who are there for social reasons only, and some who just leer at you, but that's OK. I guess I have to not pay attention to that and I am going to be uncomfortable until I feel better about my body. I'm there for me. There was one guy though who was running while I was walking, he came by twice by the time I made a lap, and I quite enjoyed watching him I admit. Talk about a bod! Oy. The body is a beautiful thing.
I haven't picked us my MS3 stole since Clue 4 was released last Friday. I need to get going on it but we have 2 weeks to work on this clue and there is no rush, there is no race and I'm not behind. I had to order another skein of the Alpaca Cloud (I know, I broke my yarn diet...) It came the other day, I spent last night after my work out trying to ball the skein while icing my ankle. Lace weight can be a real buggar to ball up. And why oh why can I not find my ball winder? Geez, it'd make life so much easier for me. I think it was packed away when my Dad died and we were cleaning. I know it was in the house and it's just hiding. I'll have to say a prayer to St.Anthony...he helps us find things.
Tom is on a course of antibiotics and he hates it! He doesn't like me shoving that pink stuff in his mouth. The Vet didn't see anything wrong and could only surmise that he may have an allergy. Don't know why that would take his voice away. But at least we know he isn't sick or hurt. And he's my chunky guy, almost 16 pounds! He's so squishy! And he's so happy Little Bit is gone...

Poor Henry still has swelling and bleeding on his chin from that dang cat acne. Wonder if I can use Proactiv on him? hehe.. The vet's office called to check on him and I told her it didn't look better, she said to give it a whole week. Today is a week and I don't see big improvements. And I found that Henry is a whore for Pounce treats and will let me do whatever if he knows he's getting a treat afterward.
I knit on the MS3 all weekend and although I'm lovin' the lace knitting it can be quite demanding. And I've had some froggin to do. I've started it over twice, but now I'm in the middle of Clue 2 and it's really fun! I'm taking down the sign up, the deadline was last Friday. If any of you are knitting MS3, please let me know, I'd love to know how you are liking it, what guess on the theme you have (I have no clue..), and what yarn and beads are you using?
I've ended up alone at work today. I thought the bosses would be back, and they are, but sounds like they got home late yesterday and so are at home today. And the temp I don't think was scheduled. It's fairly and uncommonly slow for a Monday so I'm glad.
Got a bit of a problem here though. On Friday the temp was busy doing something I wasn't paying attention, then she called me over, said she thought she messed up. The noise I heard was her trying to get the ice wall out of the mini freezer with a knife and seems she punctured it and it was making a hissing sound. This a.m. the ice is all gone, it stinks in there and I'm getting a headache. I don't even know if I should be here. (*Updated: My boss called in, I told him about the fridge and he said to throw it out. A guy down the hall helped and it's out of here and the smell is dissipating).
Going furniture shopping tonight with Mamacita.
Oh, I started a group on Ravelry!! It's called Cat Knits! Come join us if you are on Ravelry! And if you aren't on there yet, you've just got to go sign up so you'll someday soon get your invite!
