  8. I'm not feeling so much fatigue in the afternoon and can only contribute it to eating better.
  9. The cravings are getting better.

  12. I have a great attitude!
  13. I have people who love and support me.

I attract healthy friends who enjoy eating healthy foods.

It's official. I've lost 5 lbs! I'm feeling really good this a.m. I know that I'm doing well and really changing habits. I had the opportunity to have a martini and thought for a split second, oh why not, but then I just didn't want to and didn't. I haven't been perfect and that's what I'm learning I will never be perfect and that's ok. Last night after taking my brother to his place Mamacita and I came home and I prepared salads for me for the week. I added mesclun greens and romaine, organic, and edamame and 1 date cut up and crumbled goat cheese. I have the vinaigrette dressing at work. We grilled a bunch of vegetables yesterday for dinner and so I brought some of that too. I grilled yellow squash, zucchini, red and yellow green peppers and mushroom. I drizzled about 1-2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil and sprinkled it with this no salt seasoning from Penzey's. They were yummy. I've got Mamacita getting organic milk for us now and she said she was so surprised but that the organic tastes much better to her. I agree and it lasts longer too, has a longer shelf life. It's worth the cost in our estimation. And we don't drink that much milk anyway so it's good that it lasts longer.

I have decided that I'm concentrating on my eating this week and forgetting the walking for now because I was getting stressed. I didn't get up over the weekend and walk and instead of worrying about it I'm going to concentrate on one thing at a time. I'm losing without the exercise and I know that has to change but for this week that's what I'm doing.

Ooooh, time to go buy a skein of yarn now....

Happy Sunday!

I hope you are having a good Memorial Day weekend. We here are having a nice and uneventful weekend, sometimes just the kind I like. Yesterday I did some cleaning and laundry, some napping and knitting. I love the feeling that tomorrow is not a work day for me.

Well, I mentioned that I had a wake up call when I went to the Dr's on Wednesday and so since then I've resolved to just do better. No real rules but I am not having any alcohol, no glass of wine with dinner or a casual drink on the weekend. I'm just leaving it alone for now. And I'm very conscious of what I'm eating and I'm also making sure I drink my water. The good news is that since Wednesday I've lost 4 lbs! It's amazing how making a few changes can make a huge difference. And I've made a few goals for myself and one is that I'm going to tackle this 5 lbs at a time. It's too overwhelming to think of it any other way for me, so 5 lbs at a time I can deal with. And I've decided that for every 5 lbs. I will reward myself by being able to buy yarn only after losing 5 lbs. I think it's a good incentive for me because I've been buying a lot of my favorite sock yarn and now I have to think about it. And I also have a larger goal down the road and when I hit that I'm buying a pendant for myself at Tiffany and Co. This too is a great incentive for me because I really want this necklace. I also still need to incorporate walking and other forms of exercise into my life. I set my alarm this Saturday to get up and go walking, but I didn't. But I'm not going to get down on myself, I'll just try again. I'm also reading You on a Diet and like the attitude so far. I'm taking care of myself and that feels good.

I'm going to get some organic and healthy food today and tomorrow I will put in containers salads for the week. I think I have to try and plan ahead whatever I can do because it just doesn't get done last minute before I go to work.

While Mamacita was in Minnesota she had a visit with an old friend and she served this yummy salad to her. I've made my own and this is what's in it.

Romaine lettuce, and or any greens you like
1 or 2 dates, chopped
seasoned goat cheese, crumbled or spooned on top
small tomatoes, cut in quarters
vinaigrette dressing or
drizzle lightly with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and a little Balsamic Vinegar

The contrast between the dates and the cheese with the vinaigrette dressing is amazing. Try it!

Appetizer
Name a sound you like to hear.
The rain tapping on the window or roof while in bed. It's soothing and makes me want to cuddle.
Soup
What is your favorite kind of cheese?
My current favorite is Italian Gorgonzola. I love it on salad.
Salad
Do you sleep late on Saturday mornings? Why or why not?

If I can I sleep in with no alarm and usually get up around 8 or 8:30. But this is going to change because I'm going to start walking and I'll get up earlier and drive to a nearby park and walk. I think it'll make my whole day go better and give me energy.

Main Course
When was the last time you forgot something? What was it, and how long did it take to remember it?
I forgot something yesterday while discussing a certain incident that happened. I went off on a tangent and all of a sudden my mind went blank and I couldn't remember the point of the story. It happens way too often.
Dessert
Fill in the blank: I notice _people's eyes__ when they are talking to me_.

Thirteen randon thoughts from Mitchypoo because Blogger is totally making me mad...

  1. I've tried all evening between photobucket and blogger to get my TT ready and I was almost done but an edit erased the whole thing and Blogger now has this stupid autosave thing and OF COURSE it saved just then so poof...it's all gone.
  2. I should just do it again but it's getting late and I'm tired.
  3. I sound like a whiner... sorry.
  4. Maybe I should switch to wordpress although their templates are not so exciting.
  5. This is the push for me to learn more about how to set up a blog I think.
  6. I'm so happy that today I used my new insurance and I'm taking care of myself.
  7. Blood pressure is good, but I must work on getting this weight off. What a wake up call.
  8. I don't want to get overwhelmed with what I need to change to be in good health, but I must make efforts.
  9. I get to make boobie pancakes on Friday...I'm having a mammogram.
  10. Mamacita made it home, she almost didn't recognize me with my new do when I picked her up. She loved my hair.
  11. We went to have breakfast for dinner after getting her from the airport. It was nice to hear about her trip and see pics. I had strawberry blintzes...yum.
  12. What a sucky list...I'm so sorry.
  13. It was a good list too...perhaps next week I'll have the patience to try again.

Today I have plenty of time.

Thank you for all the nice comments on my new do. I was so excited after I left the salon because I felt so good, so different and new. I felt lighter and more confident. And this is coming from someone who has had my hair this short only one other time in my life, when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade and I hated it. I have my school picture from that time and I look miserable. I always had the belief, especially after gaining weight, that longer hair was more flattering. People would say they thought I'd look good with shorter hair and I'd quickly dismiss it. "Oh no, I'm too heavy." or "Maybe when I lose the weight." So I went in Saturday planning to change the color because I've been considering for a long time going totally natural in my color, which is silver/white/grey over 50% on my crown and a medium brown elsewhere. I told my hairdresser Narine (the best hairdresser around in my opinion!) So we discussed how to do this and she asked another hairdresser and they were explaining what they should do and that's when the shorter haircut discussion came up. I immediately said, oh no it'll make me look bigger. But they explained how the opposite was true, that it would elongate my neck, not just hang on me. I guess I was in a mood and it's also because I trust Narine, but I said, let's do it.

And another thing I have to note is that my best bud Julie, she is the type of friend who will share her hairdresser. That's how I met Narine and I'm grateful. Sad but true, some ladies are stingy with their hairdresser, but not my Jul! Thanks!

Change is good. That is what I'm learning. And sometimes our beliefs hold us back. I always just thought a certain way about my hair and I was wrong. And it felt good to be open to change and I totally have benefited from changing my thinking. It's been a small life lesson for me.

So then the big deal was~can I style it myself? So I did my hair last night after my shower. In which I used way too much shampoo. I guess it'll take me awhile to realize that I don't have as much hair now. Then I blew it dry which even though I took more time drying it with a large round brush it went quicker because I don't have as much bulk. I was really happy with how it came out on my own. Then this a.m. I ran over it with a flat-iron. I can do this!

So my coworker was surprised, and it's interesting to see people's reactions. A guy from down the hall noticed I cut it and colored it but he didn't say he liked it or not but he's a dude so whatever. My coworker loves it. A lady I saw in the bathroom mentioned it and was complimentary but tomorrow will be interesting when I see my bosses and pick up Mamacita at the airport tomorrow night. I hope people like it but truly it's most important what I think and I like it!

Here's a fun link for you http://www.mono-1.com/monoface/main.html Happy Monday!

The new me!

Ta.....dah!.... You like? It looks more brown in this pic, but it has a lot of silver highlights and look at how much I cut off, I can hardly believe it but I'm so glad I cut it and changed the color. No more red for me.

List 3 emotions you experienced this week.

1. Sadness - this Tuesday was the 1 year Anniversary of my Father's death.
2. Happiness - We had a nice Mother's Day and I think Mamacita was happy with everything.
3. Frustration - I got
another headache today. I'm better now after having some lunch and some excedrin migraine.

Soup
Name a car you’d love to have.

I always wanted a lavender corvette with white interior. How 80's huh? Today I would love a new Mustang, I love those.

Salad
Describe your typical morning routine.

My typical morning routine is to fight with the alarm. It takes me about 1/2 an hour to actually get up. I set multiple alarms at 6:00, 6:15, 6:30... bathroom, coffee, feed kitties, go turn on morning show and check mail, brush teeth, wash face, jump in shower, makeup, hair, dress, say bye to kitties and out the door by 8:30.

Main Course
Have you ever emailed someone famous? If so, who, and what did you say to them? Did they reply?

I emailed John Mc Cain about 5 years ago because in the Viet Nam war they had these metal bracelets that were assigned to people and you wore them and prayed for your soldier, etc. and my Mother had...well still has...his bracelet and I thought he'd like to know that she prayed for him daily. No response...

Dessert
Do you listen to podcasts? If so, which ones?

I'm not sure really what they are yet...I'm technically challenged I guess. I have downloaded music to a Shuffle...is that close?

Thursday Thirteen Edition #13

Thirteen things on Mitchypoo's to do list...

  1. Get my Honda registered and on the road. Either sell it or get some work done on it so I like driving it.
  2. Get my Notary Public license with Mamacita so we can start our side mobile notary business.
  3. Write an article for a blog that pays. My goal is to see if I can write one they accept and pay for!
  4. Learn how to watercolor paint.
  5. Get out my painting supplies and start painting again with oil.
  6. Try to design a blog on my own with html.
  7. Start walking daily, make it a priority.
  8. Take time to finish the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. (It's only been a couple years now.)
  9. Finish the Harry Potter series, I was on the blue book and I'm so behind.
  10. Declutter the garage. I've been home almost 2 years and I have to throw some of that stuff out.
  11. Plant more herbs.
  12. Organize my yarn. (Big job!)
  13. Plan a mini retreat. I'd like to find a place to go to, to be silent for the weekend. There was a place like that in MN and I never was able to go.

Sock Pics!

Mamacita is taking the camera so I was encouraged to take the pics and upload them as promised.

These are the socks I finished the other night and I'm very happy with them. I love the Lang Jawool yarn. It's superwash and is wool, cotton and nylon. The feel of it is really nice. I have to find some more of this yarn because I really wanted these for me but I decided to give them to my Aunt in MN. I hope she likes them.

These are made with the Francis Patrick hand dyed yarns that I love. I'm not sure I love this pattern because the leg is all ribbing and it looks funny like this. I tried them on and they are very comfortable on so I guess that is what matters.

This is a nice hank of yarn that I received from winning an ebay auction. There is enough yarn to make 3 pairs of socks. I think the colors will stripe in chunks, but we'll see.

Isn't this little doodad cool?! I received it from my Aunt and I just love it, it is made to go on the side of an armchair and the thing really works. There's some of that plastic on the back of the bean bag part and it holds. I end up putting it on the chair and then in the a.m. I pick it up and put it in my bag to knit at work. Really handy.

OK, there's a pic of the yarn cake for you to see the colors, but i began knitting 2 socks at once on circs and using the inside and outside of the yarn but look what it did. One sock was mottled (the one on the right) and the left one is subtly striped. They were just too different so I continued with the sock on the right and when finished I'll start the 2nd sock and it should look the same.

So there are sock pics and yarn and my little bag.

Have to get ready to leave early tomorrow and take Mamacita to the airport so tata for now!

My father passed away a year ago today. It's really hard to imagine that it's been a whole year. Where does the time go? It seems that it wasn't that long ago that we got the call. And then life was a blur for at least the next week. It seems that we are not even use to Dad not being there yet. The good part is that we talk about him a lot and we have really great memories. He's still a part of our lives and always will be. I have a picture in my mind of his hands. They were large and manly, always groomed fingernails. And they were strong but soft. I still miss him.

I can't help it, I am smitten! Ohhh George!!

The dentist went OK this a.m. although I had a hard time getting that tooth numb and he had to give me more stuff. I was numb from the ear to my nose and chin. It's wearing off now and I feel sore. I get the permanent crown at the end of the month.

And we had a flat tire, it was almost off the rim so the nice guys you call to help came quickly and we ended up getting Gary home a little late last night. Tonight I go after work to get the tire repaired/replaced. And if they get done soon I have a massage appointment tonight! I'm hoping to get home by the time she finishes with Mamacita.

Mamacita is flying this Wednesday to visit her brothers and sisters in MN! I'm glad she's going and know she'll have a good time. What will I do with a whole house to myself? Well, maybe I can get that bathroom prepped and painted. We'll see.

I'm still sock crazy, whipping out pair after pair, in large part because I'm in love with Francis Patrick's hand dyed yarns. But I have to show you a pic of the current pair because I'm knitting on size 0 circs and using the inside and outside of the skein and I'm getting 2 different patterns. One is mottled and one is subtley striped??? I was sick about it and stopped on the striped one and continued with the mottled one. Wanted you to see it though and see if any of you ever had this happen.

Mother's Day!

Myspace Layouts
Myspace Layouts

Happy Mother's Day to all of you with kids or the furry kind of kids! I think Mamacita enjoyed her morning. We got up and I made brunch with Raspberry Bellini's. I made the fresh raspberry sauce and then mixed it with Prosecco, an Italian champagne. I made breakfast sausage links, Egg's Benedict with homemade hollandaise sauce and asparagus, fruit, spinach pasta salad and 3 mini deserts, chocolate raspberry cake, coconut cake and a key lime tart. See how pretty everything looked...

We had already given her flowers and we also gave her a spa package for a hot stone reflexology massage and pedicure. They both loved the egg's benedict and I was pleasantly surprised that making the hollandaise sauce from scratch was not difficult. I used an easy recipe that you make in the blender with egg yolks and seasoning and then you add hot melted butter. It was creamy and thick and yummy. I also did not know how to really poach eggs but Mamacita said I have a natural knack for it because she said they were cooked perfectly.

She is now taking a nap, the Prosecco made her sleepy and I'll soon follow with a nap because I just got a headache...

Thirteen things about Mamacita!
In honor of Mother's Day!
  1. She is the youngest of 8 kids.
  2. She is the only one of her siblings who moved from their home state of Minnesota. That's my Father's fault. She came out to CA because her brother was in the Navy and very ill.
  3. She use to play the accordion!
  4. She cannot hold a tune. In school when in choir they use to tell her, "Anne Marie, you just mouth the words". She laughs about it.
  5. She has beautiful hands and nails.
  6. She is one of those people who you meet and end up telling her your whole life story. A fact that I tease her about.
  7. She hates to fly. But she's better about it and does it anyway.
  8. She has a quirky sense of humor. I guess that's where I got it.
  9. She cannot smell. She lost the ability to smell after a sinus infection.
  10. She won a car on Let's Make a Deal and got to kiss Monty Hall!
  11. She can speak a version of English/German. Her mother spoke German and she grew up speaking like this.
  12. She's a very good and loving Mother. She's dedicated and loyal. And she is loved much by Mitchypoo and Gary.
Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's out there!

People love me when I am myself.

Today is my parents 43rd wedding anniversary. It's bittersweet after losing my Father last year. I wasn't sure if I should mention it, I didn't want Mamacita to be upset, but after talking to my best bud I decided to send flowers. She loved them and thanked me, she knew they were for their anniversary and she said they would still be nice for Mother's Day too. I'm wearing my Dad's ring now and it makes me feel good. Next week will be 1 year since his passing. It's hard to believe a year has passed already.

It makes sense to me

you are lightcyan
#E0FFFF

Your dominant hues are green and blue. You're smart and you know it, and want to use your power to help people and relate to others. Even though you tend to battle with yourself, you solve other people's conflicts well.

Your saturation level is very low - you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project. You make sure your actions are going to really accomplish something before you start because you hate wasting energy making everyone else think you're working.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.
the spacefem.com html color quiz

I am strong. I am united with all of Life.

Well, the good news is that my tooth cracked not far enough to expose the nerve and that's why I do not have pain. I need to have a crown put on and it's a 2 visit process so since I'm OK now I'll have it done next Monday. They'll prepare the tooth, put on a temporary, while they make the crown. I didn't even ask how much because I guess it doesn't really matter, I have to pay it and I think it's OK to invest in your teeth and your overall health.

It's another hot day here in the south land. I am fortunate to work in an office that is cool all the time. They are really good about the temps here, we never are freezing or hot, they keep it comfortable.

A friend sent me pics of the flooding in Aberdeen, SD. Have you heard? It seems weird to me that they are not saying anything on the news about it? I guess it was part of the same storm that created the horrible hurricanes in Kansas but the flooding in SD is unbelievable. And re: Kansas, I'm anxiously awaiting to see if Gracie and KU Crafter are OK so if you happen to read this, please drop me a comment.

The news here is flooded with all the controversy about the May Day Melee that happened here in LA. I'm conflicted on my opinion about it. There's a part of me that says that if they weren't there in the first place none of this would have happened, but I also don't believe in police brutality...so....the debate will go on and CA will keep catering to illegals.

May 7, 2007
I see myself today in a new light.

Hope you all had a good weekend. I did. We went Saturday to El Mirage, an old lake bed about 1 1/2 hours from my house to visit with my cousins and my Aunt and Uncle and watch the speed races. It was a nice sunny day and the wind wasn't too bad. My bro loved it, he was so excited to be there. I got a real nice sunburn on the places I didn't put sunscreen, likes the tops of my feet, ankles, and on both arms, by my armpits and my chest. Owwww... We just went for the day and had a good time although we hit traffic coming home, a motor home turned over coming down the summit and we were stuck in traffic for almost an hour.

I also somehow lost part of a back tooth on Friday. I felt something weird with my tongue and I'll be darned if part of my tooth, like a quarter of it is gone. It is not hurting me, I was so worried it would but I'm going this afternoon to get it fixed.

It is hot here today in the south land. Today and tomorrow will be in the 90's. It's still beautiful though. Hopefully I won't be numb and in pain tonight, I have some planting to do when I get home.

Happy Monday! Why am I always so upbeat and hopeful on Mondays? It feels like a new beginning to me, I like Mondays.

Interview me!

This interview process I saw on Topchamp's blog and so here are her questions for me. Thank you Ceri! I'll be happy to reciprocate, just follow what it says at the end of the post.

  1. How did you get into knitting? (it seems an important part of your life) I originally learned how to crochet as a young child because my paternal Grandmother lived with us and was an avid crocheter. So i learned when I was about 6 years old, I don't know when but I always loved the look of knitting and so I taught myself. I would pick it up as a young girl, put it down and forget it. I worked on a sweater when I was in my early 20's on this putrid salmon color ugly synthetic yarn and I hated it. I put it down. Then when I was 26, separated from my husband, I picked it up again to keep me busy and figured out that I was twisting stitches and that's why I hated the look. When I figured it out finally on my own, there was no stopping me. Knitting I credit with saving my sanity. For me it's an art and it's therapy. It's part of my life and always will be, I can not imagine ever not knitting.
  2. You're a very crafty person - what are you most proud of making/knitting? This is a hard question. I've taken pleasure in making many things I've made with my hands or making it by scratch in cooking. So it could be the bread I would make weekly from scratch, no machines. Or the bagels or crackers I made. Or real blueberry jam. Or the yarn I made with wool right off an animal that I washed, carded, dyed and spun into yarn and knit into an object. Perhaps I'm most proud of the yarn that I'm able to make. It makes you appreciate it all the more when you spend so many hours in the preparation.
  3. If you could have a perfect day out, where would you spend it and what
    would you do?
It would start by waking up on the right hand side of my special someone in the crook of his arm. And I'd wake up when I wake up, no alarms. And then he'd bring me a nice cup of coffee with cream and Splenda and he'd bring me a rose from the garden ~ just because. Then I'd make a nice hearty breakfast, read the paper and then we'd hop in the car and drive up the coast on a beautiful sunny day. We'd stop when we wanted to, to look at historical sites, or stop to enjoy the view. We'd stop at a quaint restaurant for a casual but nice salad and a glass of wine for lunch. Good conversation and romance. Then we'd continue on our drive, sing to our favorite tunes with the top down. We'd finally decide to stop at a B & B for the night. It will be casual but elegant and welcoming. I'd go buy a nice dress and sandals to wear for dinner and we would have a lovely time at a seafood restaurant, watch the sunset together and go to bed to enjoy sweet dreams.
  4. What is your greatest strength or weakness? I try to be positive so I won't discuss a weakness, but perhaps my strength is that I'm....wow, this is hard, how do you answer without sounding like an ass? I was going to say my strength is my honesty, but truthfully that could also be my weakness as well.
  5. Describe your dream home? My dream home would be on acres and acres so I have no close neighbors and they can't see in my windows. There would be merino sheep on the property and a couple gentle riding horses, a milking goat, laying hens and ducks. The house would be 2 story, with an elevator for my brother. It would be cottage style or Victorian but have all modern conveniences. There would be a finished basement with a really cool laundry area. The style would be casual and comforting, the kind of place you walk into and say, ahhhhh. Everyone would feel welcome and want to sit and have a cup of tea or wine and chat. It would have a view of the ocean. There would be a loft upstairs that would have all my knitting and spinning items and also a table loom. There would also be an easel with oil paints, all shades of the rainbow, brushes, etc. There would be lots of light with stained glass windows and lead corner pieces. The kitchen would be huge and comfy and have a wood stove built in plus a restaurant style gas burner stove oven and all the other doodads. The bedroom would be my oasis, I'll have a reading chair facing the ocean with it's own light. The bathtub will be a huge walk-in with jets that you walk up to and will face a fireplace that is open-ended into the bedroom. Everything will be comfy and squishy and clean, organic, natural fibers.

If you want to continue, here are the rules:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Thirteen Super Easy Recipes from Mitchypoo!
  1. Crab Rangoon~ Soften 1 8 oz. of cream cheese, add 1 drained can of crab meat, add about 2 or 3 finely chopped green onions. Mix well. Take won ton wrappers, add about 1 large tsp. of the mixture to the center, use water to seal the edges or gather the ends up to purse the filling. Fry in oil until golden. Serve with sweet and hot sauce or just hot sauce. These are my brothers favorite!
  2. Zucchini and Corn~ In a bowl put about 3/4 to 1 cup of frozen white or yellow corn, take 1 or 2 zucchini and slice over the corn, add 1 1/4 inch slice Velveeta and put on top. HEY! I like Velveeta, but you can use any cheese that you like that melts. Then cover with plastic wrap and microwave on high about 3 minutes, add for 1 minute intervals until the zucchini is slightly cooked, stir, salt and pepper to taste. Sounds weird, but try it, it's yummy.
  3. Easy Cheese Dip~ If you can find canned Chili Laredo without beans, use that. Otherwise use your favorite canned chili without beans, add 2 8 oz cream cheese packages and put in the crock pot. Stir and serve with tortilla chips. Men seem to love this at parties.
  4. Cream Cheese Log~ a definite crowd pleaser. Soften 2 pkg. of 8 oz. cream cheese, add 1 small can of crushed pineapple and drain very well, add about 1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper and about 1/4 cup finely chopped green onion. Mix. Put about 2 cups of chopped pecans or walnuts on wax paper. Then take the mixture and either divide into 2 balls or form into 1 large log. Put on the nuts and roll to cover. Put it in the fridge for awhile. Serve with ritz crackers or wheat thins.
  5. Bacon and Peanut Butter Toast~ this is just comfort food, but you have to try this. Do the bacon and while still warm, put on top of the peanut butter. It gets all oozy and it's so good.
  6. Tomato and Onion Salad~ cut about 5 or 6 tomatoes into wedges, add about 1/2 a med. red onion, sliced into thin slices or minced, add fresh basil or about 1 tsp. dried, drizzle about 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil over it, enough to coat. Add about 1/4 tsp. salt. Mix it up and let it sit in the fridge. It'll create some juices and this is very refreshing.
  7. Aunt Reen's Crab Dip~ spread 1 8 oz. package of cream cheese on a platter, add cocktail sauce over that, add 1 can drained crab meat over that, add about 1/2 cup of finely chopped green onion over that. Serve with crackers.
  8. Super Easy Brownies~ This is so easy and so good. Make chocolate instant pudding with milk as directed, mix that into a box of any kind of chocolate or fudge dry cake mix. Add 1 bag of mini or regular size chocolate chips. Mix it all together, add nuts if you like. Put in a 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for about 40 minutes or until the center is not gooey. Let them cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar or just cut and enjoy. They are moist and scrumptious.
  9. Chopped Salad~It takes some prep time but it's easy. Take iceberg lettuce and chop kind of small, add about 1/4 jicama, chopped small, add about 3 pieces of fried bacon, crumbled, add 1/2 or a whole avocado diced, add 1/2 small red onion diced, add 1 or 2 tomatoes chopped, add about 1/4 cup ranch dressing or your favorite dressing, toss and serve with fried onions on top.
  10. Pineapple Boats~Take a fresh pineapple, leave the top on and cut in half lengthwise, then quarter. Cut the hard center core off. Cut the pineapple by cutting near the skin and then cut down the center and into chunks but leave on the skin or "boat" Then sprinkle with chili powder~yes--chili powder! Don't argue, just try it! Sprinkle with salt and then drizzle fresh lemon juice over. Serve with toothpicks or individually on plates and enjoy!
  11. Egg-in-a-Hole~ This is what I want when I don't feel good or have an upset tummy. Take a piece of bread and with a glass, cut a hole in the middle, butter the bread and put in a pan over medium heat. Put a little butter in the hole and when melted, add an egg, salt and pepper to taste. When the first side is browned, flip over, when egg white is cooked, but center still runny, take out and eat.
  12. Easy Pea Hors d'oeuvres~ Make your favorite tuna salad, not too runny, get pea pods and wash and pull the strings and open on one side, add tuna salad and serve.
  13. Easy Chunky Guacamole~ Smash half the avocado and cut in pieces on the other half, use about 4 or 5 avocados, add about 1 tsp. seasoning salt, lemon pepper and dashes of your favorite hot sauce like Tabasco or Tapatio. Serve with tortilla chips.

Are you hungry yet? If you try any will you let me know?!

Wherever I am, there is joy and laughter.

The dried roses are gone... after a couple people told me that it was bad feng shui I went to investigate, I wondered why. This site says this...

In practising Feng Shui, it is best to stay away from artificial or dried flowers, since these symbolise decay or lifelessness. Instead, buy living plants and deadhead them regularly, clearing away any dead stems or flowers, or fill your home with fresh flowers. This will encourage good energy flow and give you a sense of balance and calmness.

And I certainly don't want decay and lifelessness in my life. That kind of explains my love life, but I'm OK with that. But I'm not satisfied, I want to have all good things, I want a loving relationship.

Today is May Day, the 1st of May. How is it possible to be May already? The Los Angeles area is expecting a protest from people who want immigration reform. High Schoolers are expected to be leaving class. Like thousands are expected to leave school and they are going to shut down streets, they have already actually. My personal feeling is that we as Americans have the right to protest but peacefully and lawfully. Those kids need to stay in school and not break laws. And if they are illegal, they don't have the right to protest in this country. Immigrant workers are expected to strike today and not work. Again, if you are here legally, protest all you want. If you are not, I do not want to hear it.

I finally think I have my bed situated right. I've had a magnetic pad that someone gave me but I've had many restless nights. I turned it around and Mamacita got me a nice mattress pad cover that goes over the top and the last 2 nights I've slept really well!
