Today I celebrate the joy and wonder within me.

I'm having a really hard time with today's affirmation because I have a case of the "mean reds" as Holly Golightly would say. I had a very upsetting conversation last night and frankly, I'm pissed off. I don't want to go into it, but people are sometimes so disappointing. It's more than disappointing, it's heart-wrenching actually.

Hope you are all having a good Halloween. We had several small kids who came by our office today and it was cute to see their costumes.

Computer is still down and it seems that we will go get a new one. We're due for one and Mamacita has always hated the one that we have.

I have been knitting on Cherie Amour and now that I'm on the sleeve I feel that I didn't do the bodice pattern correctly, so I may rip and redo, not sure yet.

October 29, 2007
I am competent and well prepared to handle the tasks before me today. I keep my thoughts in order somy mind is at peace.

Ya, I'll have to keep reading this affirmation today because I feel jumbled and out of sorts. Our computer at home went down, I think it's the power source and I'm kind of lost. And wouldn't you know it is when I had 6 things sell on ebay and I wasn't able to process the order and ship. Stressed...

Had a good weekend though, Saturday we had 2 parties. One in the a.m for my best buds twins at Chuck E. Cheese. It was a lot of fun, they had a great time. Then we took Gary to his other home and Mamacita and I had another party that evening for our neighbors 80th birthday. They are family to us, and I haven't seen a lot of them in a long time so I really enjoyed seeing everyone. It was a very nice party, and I met some really nice, new people too.

My Friday weigh in I was down a total of 10.2 lbs!! And that included the weight from a monitor I had to wear Friday, so my loss was really more. I'm happy.

I was wearing a heart monitor for 24 hours and I've been going through some testing because I've been having some heart palpitations and my dr. wants to make sure everything is OK. This was the thing I didn't want to talk about earlier. Everything looks good so far, I've had EKG, and an echocardiogram and a treadmill stress test, and I'm waiting for the results although everything so far looks good. I want to get the OK to start exercising.

I'm really feeling good about WW and my eating healthy and I feel better. I'm not going to let anything deter me.

Friday's Feast

Name a great website you would recommend to others. http://www.ravelry.com/ If you are a knitter or crocheter it is a great way to keep track of your needles, yarn stash, patterns, projects and also a great community. There are groups on there you can join. I love it!

On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 as highest), how often do you dream at night? 2~I'm not a big dreamer and when I do they are often upsetting, not horror or terror dreams, but just upsetting.
Did you have a pet as a child? If so, what kind and what was its name? My first real pet was a Welsh Corgi dog named Gabriella of Hancook. She was a full bred and a sweet thing but I think I was too young to have that responsibility.
Main Course
If you had the chance to star in a commercial, what would you choose to advertise? Huh, interesting question. I'd be a great testimony to Proactiv, it's a product that really works for me and has made a real difference in my skin and helped me. I'd endorse it wholeheartedly.
What is your favorite kind of hard candy? I love peanut brittle, our recipe, not the store bought stuff. I also love See's Victoria Toffee, that's my favorite I think.

The setting sun, the sound of birds' singing and, most importantly, I miss meeting myself. Working together is part of the purpose of life. I am learning about love at my job. I love the people I work with.

The young guy who's been working with me while the bosses are out just asked me if I liked Blondie. He's into 80's music. So it got me to thinking of my high school days and I asked him if he liked other 80's music, yes, he does. How about Devo? Never heard of them. Journey? Never heard of them!....(Never heard of Journey??!!wtf) Supertramp? Nope. Kansas? Yeah, heard of them. Oingo Boingo...Nope. David Bowie...well of course. I told him to go download Journey if he wants to know about the 80's. Can you believe that? It just doesn't make sense to me that he's never heard of Journey? I miss those years. Wouldn't it be great to just go back and worry about our feather hair and how we can make it BIGGER? And use sun-in to be blonder, and wear bonne bell lip gloss in that strawberry scent.

I started Cherie Amour and I'm in love! It's going quick and I'm anxious to get it done. It's a beautiful wine color solid that I'm using. I want to wear it with a cute undershirt and some jeans. And I want to be as small as the girl in the pic, but whatever...soon...very soon. Well, not that small I'm sure, but smaller... :)

October 22, 2007
I am in harmony with all of the people, places, and things that surround me in this world. I am at peace.

The LA and San Diego area are in real trouble with fires. It looks like many fires started yesterday and today it's just getting worse and with more fires starting. I last heard that a quarter million people are being evacuated from the San Diego area and there is 17 different fires going. I just heard of the first fire related fatality as well. The fires are surrounding LA from the north, Santa Clarita, Malibu, into the foothills, Arrowhead and now going down into Irvine area and San Diego. Scary, although I'm thankful that we are not directly affected by it. We live by a series of hills and I often worry about that, but we are OK for now. It has affected my work situation today too. I'm not able to start any new business or add coverage, we have a moratorium because of the fires so hopefully that can be lifted soon. I feel really bad for people who are losing their homes. My bosses have a home in the mountains too, but so far they are OK. I cannot imagine losing everything like that.

I never did get that cold. It's so annoying. I guess I'm getting allergies because I don't know how many times I thought, oh here it comes, and then it goes away. I'm thankful to not be all snotty and stuffed up.

I received some yarn in the mail and can't wait to get home tonight, because I may have some more yarn goodness! And again, I finished Hint 3 of the Secret of the Stole by Sunday! I really wish the hints were longer. I'm liking the pattern.

Made a great WW Turkey Chili last night, Mamacita and I put it together and it was really good. Only 3 pts. for a 1 cup serving. Full of onions, garlic and bell pepper, ground turkey and then spices of cumin, cayenne, oregano and we put some jalapeno powder in. Then crushed tomatoes, drained and rinsed black beans and a can of FF refried beans. Very tasty! It was in a WW book, if I find a link I'll post it.

Friday Weigh In!

I'm down 9.4 lbs. total and 2.8 for the week! Happy, happy, happy!! And that was with eating out twice, having birthday cake and getting my period. It's shown me that I'm able to live life and can still lose. Not that it doesn't take effort, it still does. But my body seems to be responding well to eating well.

Now if I can stop this cold. I have a scratchy throat and itchy ears...you know what that means. Maybe that cold that I evaded all summer is finally getting me.

Happy Friday and I hope you all have a great weekend! Do something fun! And then tell me about it, k?

Friday's Feast

If you were a dog, what breed would you be, and why?
I'd be a Yellow Labrador, because they are solid in frame, family oriented, smart and know how to swim.

What does the color purple make you think of? Royalty. It also makes me think of my cousin Cindy who likes the color purple.

Approximately how long does it take you to get ready each morning? About an hour. If I don't have to do my hair, about 10-15 minutes less.

Main Course
How many cousins do you have, and are you close to them? I have over 60 cousins, probably closer to 70. My mom is the youngest of 8 siblings and my Dad had 4 siblings. I am very close to about 4 of my cousins.

I am responsible for what comes out of my mouth. I listen to what I say. I no longer gossip or repeat negative stories.

I like today's affirmation and I really try to live that, especially about the gossip. I think it's very wrong and often hurtful and I don't like doing it. I think it's because I work in a small work environment and so I don't deal with it so much, but I remember and the gossip is just toxic. You choose your behavior.

My poor Mamacita, she went to the grocery store on the way home from visiting my brother last night and she got all the way home, about 10 miles away, and realized she left her handbag in the cart in the parking lot. She came in the house in a panic. She called the store right away, the manager told her to call back in 5 minutes, but it was gone. She lost everything! Her cell phone, her wallet, her lipsticks, her address book, her favorite nail file, her license, some credit cards. She got busy calling and cancelling all her accounts. What a pain in the patooty, but what can you do?

Weigh in is tomorrow and I'm excited! I'm doing very well. I just feel it!!

October 17, 2007
I consciously think, feel, and identify with happy thoughts of abundance.

I made another Weight Watcher recipe last night and it was yummy! I made Old Fashioned Chicken Pot Pie. Click the link to get the recipe. It was super simple and only 5 points for a 1/6 of the whole baking dish! I ended up using chicken tenders because that's what I ended up picking at the grocery store. I just sauteed them and then cut up into chunks and prepared the vegetables after that in the same pan. It was satisfying and filling and I had it for lunch today too. I again can't wait to have my Friday weigh in. I've been weighing every morning upon waking and the scale is going in the right direction consistently! Yay!

My bosses are out of the office for the next week. So it's quieter around here which is OK with me.

I'm waiting for a yarn package and I'm going to start the Cheri Amour from Knitty. I've ordered a beautiful burgundy wine color and waiting for that too. I also am going to start the Honeybee Stole and I found a gorgeous yellow yarn which I'm also waiting for. I guess I went on a bit of a shopping spree! Hey, I earned it!

Here's some cat humor for you! http://sogalitno.typepad.com/southerngalknits/2007/10/franklin-does-i.html

I like it because it so fits our group on Ravelry called Cat Knits! If any of you are on Ravelry and a cat lover, please come join us! We just hit 700 members today!

My boss is generous. I always feel appreciated at work. As I value Life, Life values me.

I had a post going and then we lost power, and I just know I said something brilliant and now I can't remember!

The weekend was really pretty good. We celebrated Gary's birthday with cake and presents on Friday night after I brought him home and then Saturday we went to dinner and that was fun. And I had a great dinner, a little splurging but still did well on my daily points. And I weighed this a.m. and I was down! How about that, I can really enjoy life and still lose. This is what it's suppose to be like, I'm sure of it.

I got the 2nd hint this Friday for the Secret of the Stole and completed it last night. I love the pattern. It's not too difficult, but still challenging enough to keep me inspired. I've heard some grumping on the yahoo thread and I stay out of it. There is just no way to make everyone happy with a large group like this and I choose to not listen to the negativity. I'll show you a pic but until it's blocked I don't think it shows how pretty it is.
After seeing some blogs I seem to be the only Californian who didn't venture out to see Crazy Aunt Purl. Oh, I would have, I love her, but I had to babysit and fighting traffic and parking is not really my thing. I heard she did really well as I knew she would.

I think it's going to rain tonight, it's overcast and gloomy, but I love this weather. Guess I'll have to put away the sandals with heels and get some closed toe shoes.

Friday's Feast

When was the last time you were surprised? I can't remember.
Fill in the blanks: My eyes are ________, but I wish they were __________. My eyes are brown but I wish they were green or blue like my Mamacita's. But she asked God for dark haired, dark eyed babies and that's what He gave her.
If you were a Beanie Baby, what would you look like and what would your name be? I'd like to be a soft cuddly sheep and I'd have a Louis Vuitton handbag!
Main Course
Name two things you consistently do that you consider to be healthy habits. I am eating healthy, low fat and getting my fruit and veggies in and I take daily vitamin and mineral supplements from Usana.
What brand of toothpaste are you using these days? Do you like it? Why or why not? I like Colgate, have used it for years. I grew up on Crest, but I hate the taste.

Thursday Thirteen #31

Thirteen things about my Brother Gary! In honor of his birthday today.

  1. He's my baby brother.
  2. He has quite a memory, like an elephant I always tell him. He used to and still can memorize when TV shows that are on and what channel. It's quite amazing. And he'll remember things and stories from when we were younger that no one else remembers.
  3. He cannot say the word World. It comes out like Weeerld. It's really cute and he hates when I ask him to say it.
  4. He is afraid of most animals and even hated stuffed animal toys as a child.
  5. We use to call him the Sausage Snatcher because he had a surgery years ago and was on a gurney in the house and the story goes that an Uncle was visiting and Gary was on his gurney near him and when he looked away, Gary took his sausage!
  6. He is the official Supervisor, when he would watch Dad or Uncles working on a project, he knew what they were doing and would supervise their work.
  7. He doesn't like to smile with teeth for a picture, but he will if you tickle him.
  8. He never had a cavity until about the age of 30 or needed braces.
  9. He insists on wearing steel toed shoes. Even during the summer. He broke some toes years back and I guess this is why.
  10. He loves to visit and socialize.
  11. He's a meat and potatoes guy.
  12. He has a hat collection, hundreds of hats.
  13. He loves Harley Davidson, Orange County Choppers, car shows, etc. He would have been a car buff if he could walk and drive.

Happy Birthday Gary Bear!

I make sure my food and beverages contribute to my vibrant health.

I like today's affirmation because I am very conscious of my food decisions and I am eating healthy and I'm so happy about it. I'm not saying I'm doing it all right, I still sometimes want what I want, but my diet has improved so much in the last months. And now being on Weight Watchers, well I'm so happy about it and having the benefit of losing the weight too.

You might be proud of me, I sure am, because I usually have candy on my desk for clients and my boss is a chocoholic, but I am not touching it! And with Halloween coming up, well our WW leader made a good point. I may want it, but truth is, there will still be candy left in the world, I don't have to have it now, when I want it, it'll still be available.

I'm working on the exercise too but having some health issues that I don't want to discuss right now. It's still important for me to try.

I just saw Jessica Seinfeld on the Oprah show and I'm so intrigued with her book, Deceptively Delicious. I must have it. Her focus was on getting her kids to eat their vegetables which I am sure is hard to do. But I was so impressed with the concept and idea of pureeing fruit and veggies and using it in your daily recipes. The concept is genious and I want the cookbook because the recipes look good and are mostly low fat, high fiber and healthy and that can only help in my struggle. I am trying to get it on ebay but not willing to pay more than amazon so i've lost an auction and it seems that it's back ordered anyway due to the Oprah effect. But it's on my wish list for sure! If you can see that Oprah show, watch it, it's great.

I'm jonesing for the next Secret of the Stole hint that isn't coming out until this Friday. Maybe I won't finish it over the weekend so that I don't have to wait so long til the next hint. I'm working on a prayer shawl for my Mamacita in the meantime at night and working on a pair of socks during lunch time.

October 8, 2007
I am open and receptive to receiving all the gifts that Life has to give me.

I had a nice weekend. Friday night I had my burrito and it was soooo good! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I counted the points and I was still on plan. And then I felt satisfied and the craving was gone and I was on plan for the rest of the weekend. We kind of talked about my burrito obsession at the meeting on Friday and there was advice on what to do, some said I could make my own with healthier choices like black beans or whole wheat tortillas, or a smaller tortilla, etc. Some said, have it and enjoy it and move on. I chose to have it and it was a good choice for me.

Saturday Mamacita and I had a spa appointment. She had a spa pedicure and I had a massage. I was a little nervous because they only had a guy therapist but this is a nice spa and I know they are professional and he was great, I liked Bob a lot. He definitely got rid of my stress and I felt fantastic. Mamacita and I then took a drive along the beach which was beautiful and then we stopped for lunch at a place right on the beach. The restaurant has a Hawaiian theme and we had a wonderful glass of pinot grigio and a really beautiful Shrimp and Crab Louie salad. I even took a picture! See... oh, forget it, my camera pic is too grainy. But believe me, it was beautiful and it was a really nice salad.

Saturday afternoon I napped, I knit, I read, I cooked. It was nice.

I also started the Secret of the Stole Hint 1 that came out Friday and I finished it Sunday. I really like the pattern and can't wait for the next Hint this Friday!

I've made a goal to exercise 3 times this week I will start tonight after work.

October 5, 2007
No matter what I am doing, I ask for guidance. Show me the way.

I lost another 2 lbs. this week for a total of 6.6!!Yay me! So I'm past 5 lbs. and I have some yarn buying to do. Stash Enchancement!

Friday's Feast

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you look forward to your birthday?
About an 8. It's always celebrated and why not celebrate? What can you do, it's natural to age, so celebrate it.
What is one word you don’t like the sound, spelling, or meaning of?
Supposedly. It's always used wrong, often they say Supposably and it bugs me. It's used too much.
Do you wear sunglasses when you’re outside? If so, what does your current pair look like?
I must wear sunglasses when outside, my eyes have become sensitive. My current pair are big, Nicole Richie style, black, with sequins but they are also cheapies. I don't spend a lot of money on sunglasses because I'm too hard on them and I don't see the value in expensive pairs.
Main Course
If you were to write a book, to whom would you dedicate it?
Probably my Mamacita....
Name a beverage that you enjoy.
COFFEE!!! Must have coffee daily!

Still time to join!

If you are interested in the Knitters Coffee Swap 3, there is still room for you, but hurry, only about 30 people can still join!

I expect to have good health throughout my life.

I'm still on plan, doing very well with Weight Watchers. I weigh in tomorrow and I can't wait! I'm eating really well, not having cravings, and if I want a snack, I have them, but they are WW snacks and I add the points. I've really been taking care of myself. I find I'm ready for bed earlier and I'm getting a good nights sleep and up early. I'm getting in a routine and it's working for me.

I saw one of the girls in the restroom who is on the plan and we starting talking about how it's going for us and she said she struggles on the weekends. She is young and has a husband, maybe some kids, so I can see where it could be a struggle. And she said her husband won't eat her food. I tried to tell her about the website and that the recipes are simple and really good. Thinking to myself, he wouldn't have to know it was "her food". But inside I heard myself saying, "what a creep, geez, I mean how unsupportive can you be?"... So if I need to find another reason it's OK to not be in a relationship and share my life it's because he could be an unsupportive jerk and then I'd be really unhappy. And I'd have to hurt him.....just kidding. :) I'm grateful to have a Mamacita who is very supportive and she is also wanting to lose so it's great for us.

I've also got the Fast Food Monster at bay. You know, the one who bugs you all the time and says, "oh, you don't have any time, just stop quick and have some fish tacos and french fries. And you'll feel better....promise. " He's been kicked to the curb. I take a little time in the a.m. to pack my breakfast and lunch which is usually a salad, just field greens, and some feta cheese, and then a frozen entree. For now, that is working. I also take a fat free pudding or sugar free jello and some fruit. For breakfast i bring bran flakes and some ff milk. It's so simple.

I got my copy of Crazy Aunt Purl's Drunk, Divorced & Covered in Cat Hair. I had preordered it months ago and am a little peeved at Amazon because when it was in, I should have been one of the first for it to ship, but I had to cancel and reorder to get it to ship which doesn't seem right. But the book is really enjoyable. Well, if you read Crazy Aunt Purl, you can just imagine. It seems they've edited some of her southernness out of the book which I wish they had not done.

Mamacita and I have spa appointments Saturday morning and then we're going to lunch at the beach. I can not wait! I'm having a massage....guess this means I'll have to shave my legs!

It is okay to learn from every experience, and it is okay to make mistakes.

The whole world is your family. Bring peace to your mind and to your world. Send loving thoughts to even those who you think of as enemies. Love and forgiveness heals.

Yes people, it's October. I've been saying all summer, I have to get in for a pedicure and now I'm like, oh, why bother. In the fall and winter I have socks and tights on most of the time, nobody cares about my toes. It's less than 90 days until Christmas too...OOOHHH, am I making you anxious? Sorry. It does make me anxious except that I have been knitting all year and frankly, I'm almost done with my gifts, I'm not too worried this year.

Had a rather challenging morning... My brother's wheelchair decided to take a dump last night. The gear box went crazy and his chair is capable of tilting up and down. Well it went out and tilted all the way down and so, he was falling out of it and there was no way to get him out of the house and into the van. So we had to put him down for bed early because it was uncomfortable for him to sit like that. We were in communication with his facility and there is a guy who knows about his chair but he doesn't have a phone and doesn't drive. So we waited until this a.m. and then we went and picked him up and he came and got the chair at least up enough to get him out of the house. So we got him out of bed and then Mamacita was taking he and my brother back to the facility.

I felt kind of hungry last night, cravings, but I still did well! I didn't eat before bed. I did have 2 glasses of wine, but I was on program, so there!

I have a pink baby kimono on the blocking wires and I'll sew it together tonight! Pics to follow....promise!
