I like roller coasters. I like the climbing to the top, the anticipation and the whoosh as you go down.

I'm usually pretty quiet about it, I don't like confrontation, and I usually stay calm. Being in customer service and sales you kind of learn to handle situations.

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics?
It's about a 3. But it depends on who it is.

Did you get a flu shot this year? If not, do you plan to?
I did not, I have thought about it, but it is not a priority.

Approximately how many hours per week do you spend watching television?
Way too many I am sure. I like my Thursday and Sunday shows and I tape dr.phil everyday and I like my cooking shows on Saturday. My dear sweet Father was a huge couch potato and so it concerns me because I don't want to be addicted to TV.

Thursday Thirteen #36





Thirteen things that Mitchypoo is thankful for. Ya ya, Thanksgiving is over but I'm not!

  1. Family. I've got a great Mamacita and Brother and a whole array of aunts and uncles, cousins that I truly love.

  2. Friends. True friends are a treasure and I've got several treasures.

  3. I'm thankful for a job that I enjoy most of the time. Well, it's not perfect, it never is, but I'm happy.
  4. I'm thankful to have imagination. How boring life would be without imaging how thins could be, without thinking of what could be.
  5. My cats. Tom and Henry give me so much joy. They are so entertaining and so sweet and they just make me laugh and want to hug and kiss and squish them. And they comfort me if I need it. They know.
  6. Freedom. I'm glad to be American and have a good life and to have freedom.
  7. Weight Watchers. Sounds weird maybe but it's true. I did WW before and I guess I was at a different place because this time it's made such a difference in my life. I feel so much better already.
  8. Narine. She's my hairdresser and when you find a good one, a really good one, well it's something to be thankful about.
  9. I'm thankful for life lessons. The ones that at the time felt icky and awful and hurtful, those are now the lessons that taught me so much and I'm glad to now be thankful for the experience and what it taught me.
  10. I'm thankful that I have the love of learning. I always want to learn more and know more, this world has so much to offer, you just have to find it.
  11. I'm thankful for good books and the love of reading.
  12. I'm thankful for the love of nature and all that God gave us. There is so much to be appreciated.
  13. I'm thankful for blogging. Blogland has enriched my life in a lot of ways and this blog is therapeutic for me.

Today was a good mail day!

I love coming home and having packages waiting for me and it's a really good day if there is a magazine in the mail too. So today I had 3 packages waiting for me and 3, count them, 3 magazines! See, it doesn't take much to make me happy.

So I got a package from amazon, i ordered some cd's for my bro and Mamacita wanted a polka CD for a gift for Gary's roommate. For some reason, his roommate loves polka and it isn't that easy to find polka music but I knew amazon would have it.

Then I got this:This is the possum yarn!! The first pic shows more of the true color. It's a pretty maroon color or maybe more a wine maroon. The yarn is a single and feels nice and soft. Not sure what I was expecting. So now, what to make with this lovely. I'm thinking a hat, I'll have to look around and find just the right project. I can't wait to knit it up and see what it looks like.
And then I opened this: This is Chewy Spaghetti in the Colorway "Fresh" and I think it is so lovely! This is for me! I'm making a pair of socks for me and I can't wait! All of this yarn is my 15 lb. yarn. My reward I give myself for every 5 lbs. that I lose! I'll hit 20 soon, I'm sure of it, so I'll have to get my yarn order ready!
Too bad I have to work during the day, I'd be happy knitting all day, especially with all this yarny goodness! K, time for bed to go see my new mags!

Possum yarn

I saw something this morning on a blog, it was someone showing off her swap goodies and she had 2 skeins of this beautiful yarn. I saw the name and couldn't believe it. It was merino possum. Yes...POSSUM! What? Here's a brief history of the fiber which comes mainly from New Zealand. And here is the yarn I bought today! I got the beautiful maroon color and I can't wait to see it. You see all kinds of stuff in blogland, but it really hit me that I've never heard of this yarn.

I also did some online Christmas shopping, I love sitting on the couch and shopping, it's the greatest thing.

I think I'm coming down with a cold, but I'm not sure. I've thought this so many times and then it goes away. I've been having a sore throat and sneezing, just feeling puny. I took a nice nap this afternoon.

We're getting a security system installed tomorrow at the house, we'll all feel better. Our neighborhood is really safe, but our next door neighbors were broken into last week. They didn't take anything so it was probably kids looking for money.

We didn't get our Christmas decorations up this weekend, we'll have to get it done during the week. It'll be here before we know it. But I did get our street lamp decorated, isn't it cute! My neighbor redid the wiring for us this a.m. and it looks even better.

Thanksgiving 2007

We had a wonderful time at my Aunt and Uncle's house yesterday. The drive out there was not too bad. We hit traffic at one accident that looked like it just happened. A car was upside down on the freeway but it looked like the driver was out of the car and OK. I hope no one was hurt. We were in the traffic going to Las Vegas but it was OK. There were about 12 of us for dinner and what a feast we had! My uncle prepared a 24 lb. bird! It was huge! And very tasty. And I felt wonderful because I wasn't deprived, I had a very nice meal and even a small piece of pumpkin pie and I only used about 4 of my weekly allowance points!

I weighed in this a.m. since we are not having a meeting today and I was down 3.2 lbs! So I hit my 15 lb. mark and I'm just thrilled!

No shopping for me today, heck no, I hate those crowds. But I am going to decorate for Christmas today! I feel really festive! Already!

I'll leave you with some holiday pics! And I know this will sound horrible probably, but this was the first pic of me that I actually like and don't think I look fat! I'm happy!

My first commenter.

I saw someone post something about their blog anniversary and their first commenters. Well, it got me to thinking and so I took a looksee and it looks like I totally missed my blogs 2 yr. anniversary in July. But I was able to see that Diane from the UK was my first commenter. And she was also a new blogger but has continued. Her last post was in October. Her blog is really cute, I love her handknits and her animals pics and I love how they talk over there. It sometimes amazes me how much I get from blogging. I love seeing how other people live and what they are working on if they are crafty, it gives me inspiration and ideas. Mamacita teases me because sometimes something happens and I have to quick get the camera because it's "blogworthy"! I've met so many wonderful people just by being a blogger. Really neat people. This was Diane's first comment to me:

Did you see the ending to The Bachelor? What did you think? The after show was on last night and the 2 girls that he sent home were there to face him. I think I felt bad for all involved. I've had a major crush on the bachelor, Brad Womack, but it's changed a bit as of the ending of the show. Actually it was his attitude last night on the show that didn't sit right with me. So he tells both of them that he's not in love with them and sends them home which in one respect is good. I wouldn't want him to propose or give someone false hopes just because it would have been a good show ending, but it seemed that he really did care for both Jenny and Deanna and I would have thought he would have at least have not totally ended the relationship with one of them. Perhaps he could have not proposed but dated one of them, or both if they were all agreeable. Personally, I liked him best with Jenny, she seems more down to earth to me and more his type. I ended up respecting Deanna as a woman too but I don't think she should have put him on the spot and let him reject her again on the after show. I still think Brad is way HOT! But he admitted last night that he has some issues to deal with and I hope he does because I think ultimately he'd be a good catch.

One more day and Thanksgiving is tomorrow! I'm feeling festive already, I love the holidays, Christmas is my favorite holiday. I'm looking forward to spending time with family tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Enjoy your families and what you have to be thankful for. And remember, it's just one day, usually one meal, so it doesn't have to be a negative. I'm going to enjoy the food, but I'm not going to lose my resolve to become more healthy.

The abundance of the Universe is available to everyone. I am grateful for all that I have received in life.

I think Sunday's migraine was the worst I've ever had. I thought at one point I'd have to go in to urgent care because it just got worse and worse. And the prescription stuff didn't help it at all. I took it and then went to bed with a warm heat pack for my neck. I tossed and turned. My blinds were closed but it was too light in my room, I covered my eyes with the blanket, and then I felt smothered. I was miserable, I went to the kitchen to warm the heat pack and Mamacita was there and I almost lost it, I was almost panicked because I was in so much pain. She told me to go into her room and she'd close the blinds and the doors and it was dark. I took a muscle relaxer and then layed in her bed with our cat Henry. He comforted me and I then was able to fall asleep. I woke up about 3 hours later feeling much better. It's weird how you feel like you have a hangover after a migraine, that's how I feel anyway, but I was fine then. I have asked to go to a chiropractor and I'm waiting for the referral, I think that will help.

Happy Sunday!

The title sounds chipper, but I am nothing like chipper today. I woke up with a really horrible headache, it woke me up, this pain in my forehead and face and the pain in my neck. I got up and had some coffee and can't think of eating right now. I just took a pill and I'm sitting on the couch geeking out and have a heat pack on the back of my neck. I think I may have to go to bed, but I really don't want to. Hopefully the pill will start working.

I had my first weigh in where I was up on Friday. A little disappointing. I was up .6 but I really tried to put it in perspective. ?I'm still dealing with TOM and I knew I was going to be OK and I am. This a.m. I was down about 2 lbs. so next weeks weigh in should be ok, oh, but I'm not having a weigh in because of the holiday. Well, still, I know by my scale and how I'm feeling.

We had an interesting exercise at last Friday's meeting. We took a paper plate and wrote down all the items we will have for Thanksgiving and then we added up the points. Well the amazing thing is that with the weekly allowance which I intend to use, I'll still be on plan. This is how it's suppose to be, I mean, we all have occasions where we eat higher point items but it doesn't have to ruin our whole week.

We're going to my Aunt and Uncle's for the holiday and I'm really looking forward to it. We are bringing the ham and a jello dessert. We have a bit of a drive to get there, but that's OK. Fortunately, I like driving.

I'll be alone at work this week, well, we'll have the temp there to help me with the phones and people coming in. I think it'll be a quiet week. I can work Friday if I want to, but I still haven't decided if I will.

I finished a baby hat, my own pattern and I sewed up the pink baby kimono yesterday. And then I started a pair of socks with the Peppermint Mocha yarn that Janice my coffee swap partner sent me. I just had to cast on and the yarn is just so scrumptious. I'm using a pattern from Knitting Vintage Socks. Very cool. Pics to follow later.

Lucky caffeinated me!

Looksee what I received yesterday! This is the fabulous package that I received from Janice for the Knitter's Coffeeswap 3! She is so thoughtful! It came at a good time too, I wasn't feeling great and had a hard day and it was a nice surprise to come home to. The package has a Caribou theme! My favorite coffee is from Caribou Coffee which I had while living in MN, but now that I'm in So. CA and in Starbucks land, I miss my Caribou. So she sent some Caribou blend whole beans and beans from her local coffee shop which is so cool. And this is a metal sign that says, Life is too Short for Bad Coffee! I totally agree!She also sent a Pampered Chef coffee scooper and clip to seal your bag, a Caribou mug which is way cool and I love the colors, Caribou bars which look yummy and she even figured out the Weight Watcher points for me, isn't that thoughtful! And on top of that is 2 skeins of this soft yummy yarn called Peppermint Mocha which is so scrumptious and I will have to start a pair of socks for me very soon! I love everything Janice, thank you so much.

I didn't go to work today, just wasn't feeling well. (Paul, look away now!!) Girl troubles, but TOM came this a.m. so I'm already better. And I have to report something I'm proud of. Yesterday I was having a not so good day and was trying to talk myself into going out for lunch. Cuz I wanted to EAT! I was craving fat something fierce and would have killed for a burger and fries. But I brought lunch, I knew it was because I was upset and because of PMS, but I was going to eat out anyway. So I fought myself for about an hour and then I just heated up my lunch and ate at work and I felt like I won one for me! I was able to stop myself from the emotional eating! Yeah me! It's a big deal to me.

We got our new laptop today and I was able to set up our wireless router and I'm in love! I'm sitting on the couch and watching Project Runway and I'm in geek heaven!

I am a very capable person, and people know this about me and love me for it.

I'm having a bad Monday morning. You know, one of those where you really wonder if maybe you should go home and get back in bed and go to dreamland. I got in the car this a.m and had the gas light on and this time it wasn't my fault. My Mamacita took Gary home last night alone because I wasn't feeling great, and she looked at the gauge when she started the car, but it wasn't accurate because we live on a hill, she never looked at it again and drove over there and back on low gas, so then this a.m. I had to worry about getting up the hill to get gas, which I did successfully. Then I walked in my office and carrying my bag, the laptop, my handbag and a full coffee I guess is too much for me because I dumped my coffee all over my desk! My boss came in as I was cleaning up. K, I'm over it I think. Time to enjoy the day!!

I was down 2.2 lbs. last Friday at weigh in for Weight Watchers! For a grand total of 12.4!!! I'm just thrilled. I'm starting to feel small changes in my body and I got into a pair of jeans I hadn't worn for about a year. I love those changes. I feel so much better just about life with just those 12 lbs. gone. It's amazing, it's like the cloud is lifting, i'm not so much in the fog. And I see a light at the end of the tunnel. It's still a long tunnel, don't get me wrong, I have a ways to go, but there is a light I can see.

Now with the holidays coming up I will have to find ways to still live life and enjoy friends and family and celebrations. We are going to discuss this at our next meeting and I can't wait.

We went to a grand opening down near the beach Saturday. The spa that Mamacita and I like moved to a new shopping center and their Grand Opening was Saturday. We enjoyed a lot of free goodies, and had a nice lunch at California Pizza Kitchen, had coffee at Peet's and I got some skin stuff at the spa as well. A good day all around.

Today I will very consciously "do one thing at a time."

Need some weightloss inspiration? This helped me today. And it confirms my idea to weigh daily to keep myself accountable. I'm doing very well with my efforts to lose weight. If only I could get out there and exercise... just can't seem to figure that one out yet. Haven't heard anything about the heart tests, so no news is good news. And now it's almost dark when I get home so I lost that window to go walking, or maybe that's an excuse. But it's safer to walk in the daylight. I guess since I'm still losing while not exercising it doesn't seem to get to me and truth is, I don't wanna... Waahhh!!

Don't have a whole lot to report, no FO's, computer at home still down.

Oh, is anyone watching The Bachelor? Well I got sucked in and I'm totally in LOVE with this Bachelor. Oh, my, he is so yummy, and on top of that he's a very decent man. I just think he's adorable. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a movie career because of his looks. Keep an eye out for Brad Womack!

I know that many new adventures lie before me, and I am eager to experience them all.

It really sucks not having a computer at home. I really hate it and how dependent I've become on one. This weekend wasn't so bad, I had a lot of other stuff to do. We went looking for computers and are now thinking of getting a wireless laptop. My bud let me borrow her laptop, so that'll help in the meantime.

I started a pair of Monkey Socks and I love the pattern! Although I wish I could convert it to toe up because I don't like grafting the toe. I have knitting ADD right now, I have too many projects on the needles. And I got my 10 lb. earned yarn stash in the mail and now I want to start a felted bag for me. Another project I really shouldn't start right now.

Have to get my coffee swap package out in 2 weeks, and believe it or not, I'm on top of it! I'm having trouble with a certain coffee company sending me my coffee, but I ordered a backup and it'll be here soon.

Can you believe Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks, ok, almost 3 and then Christmas is here. I'm feeling festive already! Honestly, I am. And I'm ahead of the game and I feel good about it all. I'm going to decorate and bake and sing carols and drive everyone crazy with how cheery I am!! Can't wait!!

Wow, I had an eye-opener first thing this morning at work. Here I am feeling the mean reds about my petty problems, or maybe not so petty, and then our customer comes in to pay his accounts and he's older and his wife was taken to the hospital last night. She has a massive brain tumor and a lung problem and they don't think she'll make it. He's been married to her for 53 years. He broke down telling me about it. I told him how sorry I was, I asked him if he needed a hug and he did and my heart broke for him. He's usually a little gruff with everyone, but I realized today, he's just a sweet man who's heart is breaking because he's losing his life partner.
